Hazrat Peer Syed Shah Abdul Qader Qadri Balki R.H was a distinguished Sufi saint of the Qadiriyya order and a direct descendant of Hazrat Ghous-e-Azam Shaikh Abdul Qadir al-Jilani R.H (470–561 AH) — the founder of the Qadiri silsila whose spiritual authority extends across the entire Muslim world from Baghdad to every corner of the globe. He traced his lineage through an unbroken chain of saints and scholars back to the great Ghous-e-Azam in Baghdad, and carried the title "Balki" indicating his ancestral roots in Balkh (modern Afghanistan), a historic center of Islamic civilization that produced luminaries like Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi R.H. He migrated to the Deccan region of India and settled in Bijapur (modern-day Vijayapura, Karnataka) during the era of the Adil Shahi Sultanate — a period when Bijapur was a flourishing center of Islamic culture, architecture, and Sufi spirituality, home to the famous Gol Gumbaz and numerous dargahs of Qadiri and Chishti saints.

He established a khanqah in Bijapur that became a beacon of Qadiri spiritual practice, where he conducted daily sessions of Dhikr, taught the Quran and Hadith, and initiated seekers into the Qadiri path of spiritual purification and divine love. Among his famous karamaat, it is narrated that a severe epidemic once struck Bijapur and the people came to him in desperation. He recited specific verses of the Quran over water and distributed it — every afflicted person who drank recovered, and the epidemic subsided within days, earning him the deep reverence of the entire city.

It is also narrated that he possessed the gift of kashf (spiritual unveiling) — he would often inform visitors of their problems before they spoke, and would prescribe exact spiritual remedies that brought immediate relief to their difficulties. He was known for his strict adherence to the Shariah combined with deep inner spirituality — the hallmark of the authentic Qadiri tradition established by Ghous-e-Azam. He trained numerous khalifas (spiritual successors) who spread the Qadiri order throughout Karnataka, Maharashtra, and the wider Deccan region.

His shrine in Bijapur remains a place of great reverence, featuring the characteristic green dome associated with the Qadiri tradition. His annual Urs on the 1st of Rajab is observed with Gyarwee Shareef, Quran Khwani, Fatiha, and Naat gatherings, drawing devotees from across Karnataka and Maharashtra who come to honor his blessed memory and seek spiritual blessings through his connection to Ghous-e-Azam R.H.
