Hazrat Fatima al-Zahra R.A, the beloved daughter of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Hazrat Khadija R.A, passed away on the 3rd of Ramadan, 11 AH — only six months after the passing of her father ﷺ. She is known by many titles: al-Zahra (the Radiant), Sayyidat Nisa al-Alamin (Leader of the Women of the Worlds), Khatoon-e-Jannat (Lady of Paradise), al-Batul (the Pure One), and Umm Abiha (Mother of her Father) — a title given because of her extraordinary care for the Prophet ﷺ after the passing of her mother Hazrat Khadija R.A. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Fatima is a part of me.

Whoever angers her, angers me." (Bukhari). He ﷺ also said: "Fatima is the leader of the women of Paradise." (Bukhari & Muslim). She was born in Makkah approximately five years before the Prophethood and grew up witnessing the persecution of her father ﷺ — she was the one who removed the filth thrown on the Prophet ﷺ by the Quraysh while he prayed at the Kaaba.

She was the wife of Hazrat Ali R.A — the Prophet ﷺ himself arranged their marriage, and from this blessed union came Hazrat Imam Hassan and Imam Hussain R.A, through whom the blessed lineage of the Prophet ﷺ continues to this day across the world. She was known for her extreme piety — she would stand in prayer so long that her feet would swell, and her hands were calloused from grinding grain on the millstone. Despite being the daughter of the leader of all creation, she lived in poverty with patience and gratitude, never complaining about her worldly condition.

When the Prophet ﷺ was on his deathbed, he whispered something to her that made her cry, then whispered again and she smiled — she later revealed he told her he was departing this world (which made her cry) and that she would be the first of his family to join him (which made her smile). Her passing was deeply mourned by the companions, and she was buried at night in Jannatul Baqi', Madinah, with Hazrat Ali R.A leading her funeral prayer in accordance with her wishes. Her exact grave location remains unknown to this day.
