Hazrat Syed Shah Jalal Bukhari R.H, honored with the title "Qutub-ul-Asr" (Spiritual Pole of the Era), was a revered Sufi saint of Bodhan, Nizamabad district, Telangana — a historic town in the Deccan that has been a center of Islamic culture since the Bahmani and Qutb Shahi periods. He belonged to the Bukhari Sayyid lineage — descendants of the great Hadith master Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari R.H (author of Sahih Bukhari) who migrated from Bukhara, Central Asia, to the Indian subcontinent over centuries, establishing themselves as a respected scholarly and spiritual family. His title "Qutub-ul-Asr" (Pole of the Era) is one of the highest ranks in the Sufi spiritual hierarchy — the Qutub is considered the axis around which the spiritual affairs of the entire world revolve, and only one person holds this station at any given time.

This title indicates his supreme spiritual authority during his lifetime. He arrived in Bodhan and established a khanqah that became the spiritual center of the Nizamabad-Bodhan region, attracting seekers from across the Deccan plateau who sought his guidance on the path to Allah SWT. Among his karamaat, it is narrated that travelers on the dangerous roads of the Deccan would invoke his name for protection — and bandits who attempted to rob those who had sought his spiritual protection would find themselves paralyzed, unable to move until the travelers had passed safely.

He was known for his practice of distributing food to all visitors regardless of their faith — Hindus, Muslims, and others would eat together at his langar, breaking social barriers in a region marked by rigid caste distinctions. He played a significant role in the peaceful spread of Islam in the Telangana region through his character, his service, and his spiritual magnetism that drew people to the faith without any coercion. His shrine in Bodhan is a major pilgrimage site in Telangana, featuring beautiful Deccani architecture and a peaceful courtyard.

His annual Urs on the 16th of Safar draws devotees from across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra, observed with Quran Khwani, Fatiha, Qawwali, and langar distribution honoring this spiritual pole of the Deccan.
