Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqua R.A, the beloved wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and daughter of Hazrat Abu Bakr al-Siddiq R.A, passed away on the 17th of Ramadan, 58 AH (678 CE) in Madinah al-Munawwarah at the age of approximately 66 years. She holds the unique distinction of being the only virgin whom the Prophet ﷺ married, and their marriage was divinely ordained — the Prophet ﷺ said: "You were shown to me in a dream. An angel brought you wrapped in a piece of silk and said: This is your wife.

I uncovered your face and it was you." (Bukhari). She earned the title "al-Siddiqua" (the Truthful) after the incident of Ifk (the false accusation), when Allah SWT Himself revealed verses of the Quran (Surah An-Nur, 24:11-20) declaring her innocence — a distinction given to no other woman in history. She was one of the greatest scholars of Islam and the most learned woman in Islamic history — the companions would consult her on matters of Hadith, Fiqh, Tafsir, medicine, poetry, and Arab genealogy.

She narrated over 2,210 Hadith from the Prophet ﷺ, making her one of the top seven narrators of Hadith among all companions. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Take half of your religion from this Humayra (Ayesha)." He ﷺ also said: "The superiority of Ayesha over other women is like the superiority of Tharid (a dish) over all other foods." (Bukhari). She was known for her sharp intellect and photographic memory — scholars have documented that she corrected the understanding of senior companions on at least 30 occasions regarding Hadith and Fiqh rulings.

Many of the most senior companions, including Hazrat Abu Hurairah R.A, Hazrat Ibn Umar R.A, and Hazrat Ibn Abbas R.A, would defer to her judgment on complex matters of Islamic law and Hadith interpretation. She was extraordinarily generous — it is narrated that she once received 100,000 dirhams and distributed the entire amount to the poor before sunset, despite fasting that day and having nothing to break her fast with. The Prophet ﷺ passed away in her apartment with his head resting on her chest, and he is buried in her room — which is now part of Masjid al-Nabawi in Madinah.

She passed away in Madinah during the night and was buried in Jannatul Baqi' after Tarawih prayers, with Hazrat Abu Hurairah R.A leading her funeral prayer as per her wishes. Thousands of people attended her funeral, mourning the loss of the greatest female scholar in Islamic history.
