Hazrat Allama Tahseen Raza Khan R.H was a distinguished scholar, jurist, and spiritual personality of the Ahl-e-Sunnat tradition from Bareilly Shareef — the blessed city that is home to the legacy of Aala Hazrat Imam Ahmed Raza Khan R.H, the Mujaddid (Reviver) of the 14th Islamic century. He was born into the illustrious scholarly family of Bareilly Shareef and received his education in the Islamic sciences from the leading scholars of the Barelvi tradition. He mastered the disciplines of Fiqh (jurisprudence), Hadith, Tafsir (Quranic exegesis), Aqeedah (Islamic theology), and Arabic literature at a young age.
He was known for his deep knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence, particularly the Hanafi school, and his ability to address complex contemporary issues with scholarly precision. His eloquent speeches and lectures on matters of faith drew large audiences across India, and he was recognized as one of the most powerful orators of the Ahl-e-Sunnat community. He was a tireless defender of the Ahl-e-Sunnat creed, authoring numerous works and delivering countless lectures that clarified matters of faith and refuted deviant ideologies.
He carried forward the scholarly legacy of the Barelvi school with distinction, training numerous students who went on to serve the Muslim community as scholars, Muftis, and spiritual guides across India and beyond. His love for the Prophet ﷺ was the defining feature of his personality, and he would become emotional whenever discussing the blessed life and attributes of the Messenger ﷺ. His Wisaal is commemorated with Fatiha, scholarly gatherings, and Naat recitals in Bareilly Shareef, where devotees gather to honor his memory and pray for his elevation.
