Hazrat Sufi Ifteqar Ahmed Noori R.H was a distinguished Sufi saint and spiritual guide of the Ahl-e-Sunnat tradition based in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh — a city at the sacred confluence (Sangam) of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers that has been a center of diverse spiritual traditions for millennia, and where the Muslim community has maintained a vibrant presence since the Mughal era. His name "Ifteqar" (Humility/Need before Allah) reflected his defining spiritual quality — he lived in a constant state of awareness of his own neediness before Allah SWT, never claiming any spiritual rank for himself despite his elevated station. His surname "Noori" (of Light) indicated his spiritual luminosity — devotees would report that his face would glow with a visible noor during Dhikr gatherings, particularly during the recitation of Salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ.
He received his spiritual training from accomplished Sufi masters and underwent years of rigorous discipline before being authorized to guide seekers independently on the path of spiritual purification and closeness to Allah SWT. Among his karamaat, it is narrated that a student preparing for a crucial examination came to him in anxiety. Hazrat Noori R.H told him to recite Durood Shareef 100 times before entering the exam hall — the student not only passed but topped his class, and attributed his success entirely to the saint's blessed dua.
His khanqah in Allahabad served as a spiritual oasis for the Muslim community of the city — in a place dominated by Hindu pilgrimage traditions, his center provided Muslims with a space for authentic Islamic spirituality and community bonding. He was known for his constant smile — a quality so distinctive that people would say visiting him was like medicine for the soul, as his cheerful presence would dissolve worries and replace anxiety with peace and hope. He conducted weekly Dhikr gatherings every Thursday evening that became the spiritual highlight of the week for the Muslim community of Allahabad.
His Wisaal on the 11th of Muharram is commemorated with Fatiha, Quran Khwani, and Dhikr gatherings by his followers in Prayagraj who continue to draw spiritual nourishment from his luminous legacy.
