Hazrat Sajid Miya Sahab R.H was a distinguished spiritual personality of Bareilly Shareef and a beloved member of the Khandaan-e-Raza — the illustrious scholarly dynasty of Aala Hazrat Imam Ahmed Raza Khan R.H whose family has produced generations of scholars, Muftis, and spiritual guides who have served the Ahl-e-Sunnat community. His name "Sajid" (One who prostrates) reflected his defining characteristic — he was known for his extraordinary devotion to Salah and his prolonged prostrations (sujood) in which he would pour out his heart before Allah SWT for extended periods. He was raised in the blessed atmosphere of the Raza household in Bareilly where every moment was permeated with Quranic recitation, scholarly discussion, Dhikr, and the fragrance of devotion to the Prophet ﷺ that defines this noble family.
He received his education from the senior scholars of the family and the leading Ulama of Bareilly, absorbing the vast scholarly and spiritual heritage of Aala Hazrat R.H through the living tradition of the household. He was known for his exceptional devotion to the Prophet ﷺ — following the family tradition, he would become visibly emotional at the mention of the Prophet's ﷺ blessed name and would observe every Sunnah with meticulous love and care. Among his qualities, he was particularly known for his generosity — he would give away whatever he had to anyone who asked, never accumulating worldly possessions despite the respect and offerings that came to the family.
He contributed to maintaining the spiritual traditions of the Raza household — the daily Dhikr sessions, the Gyarwee Shareef gatherings, and the atmosphere of constant worship that makes the Bareilly household a living khanqah. He was beloved by all who knew him for his gentle nature, his warm smile, and his ability to make every visitor feel welcomed and honored in his company. His annual Urs on the 20th of Safar is observed in Bareilly Shareef with Fatiha, Quran Khwani, Naat recitals, and gatherings of remembrance attended by devotees who honor this pious member of the blessed Raza family.
