Hazrat Syed Ali Meera Datar R.H was a revered Sufi saint of Gujarat, India, whose shrine is one of the most famous in western India — particularly renowned for spiritual healing and the treatment of those afflicted by spiritual ailments (jinn possession, black magic, and psychological disturbances). His title "Meera" (Prince/Leader) indicates his noble spiritual rank, while "Datar" (Giver/Bestower) reflects his legendary generosity in bestowing spiritual blessings and healing upon all who came to his door seeking help. He belonged to the Sayyid lineage and was known for his extraordinary spiritual powers that manifested particularly in the realm of healing — people afflicted with conditions that neither doctors nor other spiritual practitioners could cure would find relief at his shrine.
Among his famous karamaat, it is narrated that a man brought his daughter who had been unable to speak for years despite being physically healthy. Hazrat Syed Ali R.H placed his hand on her head, recited certain Quranic verses, and the girl spoke clearly for the first time — her family wept with joy and gratitude. Another narration states that a wealthy merchant who had lost his sanity and was violent toward his family was brought to the saint in chains.
After spending three days at the shrine with prescribed Dhikr and Quran recitation, the man returned to complete normalcy and lived a healthy life thereafter. His shrine became famous across Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan as a place where the spiritually afflicted could find cure — a tradition that continues to this day with thousands visiting weekly seeking healing through the blessings of this saint. The shrine maintains the tradition of providing free accommodation and food to those who come for extended spiritual treatment — some staying for days or weeks until their condition improves through the prescribed spiritual regimen.
His annual Urs on the 30th of Muharram is celebrated with great devotion, featuring Quran Khwani, Fatiha, Dhikr gatherings, and special healing sessions where devotees seek the continued spiritual blessings of this great healer-saint.
