Aala Hazrat Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Fazil-e-Barelvi R.H was born on the 10th of Shawwal, 1272 AH (14th June, 1856 CE) in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India. He was a prodigious scholar from childhood — he delivered his first scholarly lecture at the age of six and wrote his first fatwa at the age of thirteen. He mastered over 50 branches of Islamic and secular knowledge, including Fiqh, Hadith, Tafsir, Usul, Arabic grammar, mathematics, astronomy, and engineering.
He authored over 1,000 works in Arabic, Persian, and Urdu, with his magnum opus being Fatawa Razawiyyah — a 30-volume encyclopedia of Islamic jurisprudence. His Urdu translation of the Holy Quran, "Kanz ul-Iman," is considered one of the most beautiful and accessible translations ever produced. He was the founder and leader of the Ahl-e-Sunnat Barelvi movement, which emphasizes love for the Prophet ﷺ, respect for the Awliya Allah, and adherence to the Hanafi school.
His birth anniversary is celebrated worldwide by Sunni Muslims as a day of gratitude for the immense scholarly and spiritual legacy he left behind.
